Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 July 2026

The short version: Driften keeps your subscriptions on your device by default. There's no Driften account, no bank connection, no analytics, and no advertising. In the iOS version, if you choose Premium iCloud Sync, Apple mirrors your records through your private iCloud database; Driften has no server and cannot access those private records. Functional logo and exchange-rate requests may produce ordinary, non-linked network diagnostics in the providers' systems, as explained below. Driften does not use them for tracking, analytics, or advertising.

This policy explains how the Driften app and this website handle information. It's written to match exactly what the app does — every claim below reflects the app's actual behavior.

1. Who we are

Driften (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an independent subscription-management app provided by Ovidiu Teodoru. You can reach us at support@getdriften.app for any privacy question.

2. Data stored locally by default

Everything you put into Driften — the subscriptions you add, their prices, billing dates, categories, notes, trial and payment history — is stored locally on your device, in the app's own private storage. It is not uploaded to a Driften server. There is no Driften account to create and nothing to sign in to.

Driften never connects to your bank or card. You add subscriptions yourself — by hand, or by importing a bank-statement file (CSV, XLSX, PDF), a screenshot, or a pasted receipt. Those imports are read entirely on your device, including when Apple Intelligence is used to interpret them. Nothing from an import is sent off your device.

3. What leaves your device

Driften makes only a small number of network requests. They are:

Optional private iCloud Sync on iOS

If you enable the Premium iCloud Sync feature in the iOS version, Apple CloudKit mirrors your subscription records through the private database of the iCloud account signed in on your device. This lets your records stay in sync across supported devices using the same Apple Account. Driften does not operate an account or sync server, and the developer cannot browse or access your production private-database records. Apple processes this data under Apple's Privacy Policy. Sync is optional and off by default.

Brand logos

To show a service's logo, the app looks it up by the service's public website address (for example, netflix.com) from that site and from the logo provider Google's icon service. Only the public domain name is sent. As with any web request, those providers can see normal network details such as your device's IP address and may retain limited security or reliability logs under their own privacy policies. Driften does not send your subscription record, amounts, import contents, or personal details.

Currency exchange rates

To convert between currencies, the app downloads daily reference rates using currency codes only (for example, USD and EUR) from Frankfurter (which publishes European Central Bank rates), with ExchangeRate-API as a fallback. No amounts and no personal details are sent. Those providers can receive normal network details such as an IP address and may retain limited security or reliability logs under their own privacy policies.

“How to cancel” links

When you choose to open a service's cancellation or account page, your browser navigates to that service's own website. This only happens when you tap it, and it's a normal visit to that site.

The built-in service catalog and cancellation steps ship inside the app, and statement, screenshot and receipt imports are interpreted on the device. Apart from optional iCloud Sync, the requests above, platform purchase services and websites you deliberately open, Driften does not transmit what you enter or import.

4. No tracking, no analytics, no ads

Driften contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking SDKs. We do not build an advertising profile of you or link functional network diagnostics to your subscription records. The external providers named in Section 3 may process standard request metadata for service delivery, security, and reliability under their own policies. This website is a set of static pages; it does not set advertising or analytics cookies. Its hosting provider may likewise keep standard, short-lived server logs.

5. Purchases

Driften offers an optional one-time “Premium” purchase. Payment is handled entirely by the app store for your platform — we never see or receive your card details. In the iOS version, Apple handles purchases and restores through your App Store account and provides us only aggregated sales information under Apple's terms and privacy policy.

6. Notifications

If you enable reminders (renewals, free-trial endings, the monthly review), they are scheduled as local notifications on your device. There is no push server and no notification data leaves your device.

7. Children

Driften is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 16. The developer does not knowingly solicit personal data from children. The limited provider processing described in Section 3 is not used to profile users or target advertising.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

Because Driften stores your data on your device and, only when you opt in, in your private iCloud database, you remain in control of it. We do not hold your subscription records on a Driften server, so there is no developer-held copy for us to access, correct, port, or erase.

If you're in the EU/EEA and believe your rights have been infringed, you may contact your local data protection authority. In Romania, that is the ANSPDCP.

9. Data retention & security

Local data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. When optional iCloud Sync is enabled, synced records remain in your private iCloud database until you delete them as described in Section 8 or manage that app data through iOS iCloud storage settings. Local storage is protected by the operating system's app sandbox and your device protections (such as a passcode, biometric authentication, and device encryption); iCloud data is protected by Apple's iCloud security.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app or on this site.
